How to Clean and Take Care of a Business Suit

Traveling with a business suit has its challenges, and keeping it clean and free of wrinkles are the main challenges.

Steps

    1
Pack the pants, carry the jacket. The best way to avoid wrinkles in the suit coat is to avoid packing it. A carried jacket does NOT count as a carry on item.
If you must fold the jacket, check these instructions.
    2
Fold the jacket and put it on top of bags in the overhead. Do NOT stuff it in there, fold loosely!
    3
Hang the suit as soon as you arrive at your destination.
    4
To remove wrinkles hang the suit in the bathroom and run a hot shower. The steam will help the wrinkles fall out.
    5
To remove wrinkles iron the suit.
    6
To clean a suit when something is spilled on it.
Move fast - stains set over time.
Blot up liquid ASAP. Clean with soda water - slight acid helps remove wine stains.
    7
When you get home take the suit to a good dry cleaner.
Store your suit on a good hanger with a wide shoulder that fits the jacket.
Hang the pants with the suit folded in half in they are pressed.
Hang the pants from the bottom edge if they are wrinkled to allow the wrinkles to fall out over time.
